The joy of searching
Poring over the map, spotting a lake, a village, a road full of hairpins: that is already the trip. ViaLooma suggests, you decide — every stop can be swapped, moved, pinned or removed, and everything can be undone.
About ViaLooma
There are those mornings when we slide the van door open onto a landscape we didn’t know the night before: a desert, a mountain pass, a cove at the end of a dirt track. ViaLooma was born of those mornings — and of all the searching it took us to find them.

A road trip always starts long before the first mile.
Our story
The story of ViaLooma, told like an itinerary: a start, three stops, and an arrival that is only a beginning.
Fred Creator of ViaLoomaand Claire’s co-pilot
Start
It all starts with a longing for open air: driving without hurrying, stopping wherever the light is beautiful. Deserts, mountains, hidden corners — that freedom is what we went looking for in our van.
Stop 1
But every trip began with whole evenings of cross-checking maps, blogs and motorhome forums. The finds were there, scattered everywhere — and nothing to turn them into a real itinerary.
Stop 2
Tracking down unusual stops, places off the beaten path: that is what excites us most on every road trip. “We” means Claire, my partner, and me, Fred. Two nature lovers and a van.
It’s mostly Claire who digs up the spots and draws the route; me, I happily follow.

Stop 3
As a freelance e-commerce web developer, I did what I know how to do: I built a tool to help Claire — the places on a map, day-by-day stops, the route worked out. The evenings before a trip became what they always should have been: the start of the journey.
Arrival
We surely weren’t the only ones. The tool of our trips became ViaLooma, open to everyone who hits the road: vanlifers, motorhome travellers, road-trippers by car.
Travel log
We planned these routes the old way, one browser tab after another. They are what gave birth to ViaLooma.

What guides ViaLooma
I wanted a tool that helps without deciding for you. Three convictions guide every choice I make.

I wanted an AI that helps me search, not an AI that searches in my place.
Fredcreator of ViaLoomaLooma AI
I don’t like “all-AI” apps where you control nothing. And above all I didn’t want an AI that makes up a place, gets the road wrong or promises an impossible itinerary. So Looma AI works within clear limits.
How an itinerary comes to life
You describe what you’d like
“Ten days in the sun, some coves, not too much driving.”
Looma AI
Understands, and suggests a region, a start, themes and a pace.
The ViaLooma algorithm
Puts real places together, on routes worked out on real roads, at the driving pace you choose.
You shape it
Every stop can be edited, moved or undone.
Like any AI, Looma can get a detail wrong: check opening hours, access and conditions with the places themselves.
In short
ViaLooma grows with the people who use it. A place to add, an idea, a bug? Write to us.
